Before taking a dip in your swimming pool, you have to test the water first. Check for chlorine residual, pH, total alkalinity, acid (or base) demand, calcium or total hardness, and total dissolved solids.

Pool water testing
If the pool water reaches alarming levels of any of these factors, replace or treat it. Water testing prevents the occurrence of irritation or any complications. It also helps keep your pool surfaces look new and stain-free.
It is advised to conduct water testing at least once a month so you would know what chemicals are needed in order to treat the pool. Follow manufacturer’s instructions carefully when handling pool chemicals.
