Gunite pools are probably the most durable pool type, and is the design of choice by most people because of its high quality. People are more or less assured that they will not be experiencing repair problems for years to come. Thus, gunite pools are a wiser investment.

Most durable pool type
These pools are made by digging a hole in the ground, where the plumbing is laid in place. A 3/8-inch steel reinforcing rods is then gridded along the hole’s walls, forming a framework grid. The grid is then sprayed with a heavy coating of gunite – a mixture of sand, cement, and water. The gunite is allowed to sit for about a week before a smooth finish is applied to the rough surface. The finish is usually a mixture of cement and marble sand, but some people use special concrete paints, tiles, or fibreglass finishes.
